4 Stars iPhone 3G Callpod connector
This is for use with the excellent Callpod charging system. Unfortunately, the new iPhone 3G has changed the adapter plug so that you cannot use plain run of the mill USB plug in cables to charge the iPhone with the standard Callpod USB plug. Having said that, this works as advertised and is an excellent charging option! Highly recommended for anyone with a Callpod and an iPhone 3G (I can’t comment on the original iPhone)
5 Stars Adapter’s Make Your Callpod Chargepod Better
I find the that Callpod Chargepod adaptor for the iPod and iPhone fits in my iPod a little bit tighter than the charger that came with the iPod…maybe a little too tight. Yet it charges the iPod without any problems. In my opinion Callpod should have included this accessory with the callpod chargepod. I was frustrated that I had to purchase it, but very happy with it’s function.
I love the callpod chargepod, which is a round hub with 6 "spokes" of chargers sticking out of it. I have not found a single one my my rechargable electronics for which there is no callpod adapter. I felt that the default adapter’s included with the callpod were not the best choice. So before purchasing a callpod make sure you count the cost of all of the spokes that you will purchase; they usually will cost you between seven and ten bucks apiece. But for me that is worth it.
My life is a tangle of cords and the callpod chargepod works to fix that. I keep my six devices (usually two blackberries, an ipod, two bluetooth headsets, and an Amazon Kindle) charging in a self-contained circle without cords going everywhere and without the use of a powerstrip. Then when I travel, I can connect those same device to the car charger using the car power adapter. And in a hotel room, I can charge all my devices (including any that charge via usb using the usb adapter) without bringing tons of cords. The callpod is an expensive, yet for many, worthwhile accessory for your portable electronics.

this is an essential for the chargepod if you own and ipod/iphone. the reason i gave it three stars was for the price….10 bucks seems a bit high for a little adapter and it would seem to me that with the proliferation of apple devices, this should be included in the starter set. i’ve had mine for almost a year or so, so maybe they include them now, who knows
4 Stars convenient product
I have reviewed the Callpod separately, and think it is a wonderful product. This particular adaptor eliminates the need for bringing the Ipod USB cord to charge your Ipod, and works fine.
I gave it only four stars because I find that it fits the Ipod a bit too snugly, so that attaching and removing it requires a little more effort than the regular USB cord, but not a big deal.
Update January 18, 2009: I now also use this for my iPod Touch 2G. For some reason the adaptor fits this more easily than my iPod Nano and is very easy to use.
